Detectives arrest two for drugs and guns

A search warrant served at a residence in Delano yielded five pounds of methamphetamine as well as a loaded gun and led to the arrest of two men. The drug charges they face stem from a search based on information that one of the residents of the home on Girard Street as well as several other individuals were involved in drug trafficking.Police found the drugs and a .357 handgun upon searching the house. They arrested a 27-year-old Paramount resident at the home as well as a 37-year-old Los Angeles man on suspicion of conspiracy as well as other drug-related crimes.

Investigation leads to identity theft arrest

A fraud investigation led Los Angeles Sheriff's Department deputies to the arrest of a woman who allegedly stole another's identity on Feb. 6. The 21-year-old suspect is said to have assumed the identity of a 70-year-old Georgia resident when she obtained $5,000 in cash advances using the woman's credit card information. She was arrested for both identity theft and grand theft and is being held in jail on a $50,000 bond.Identity theft is a growing problem, and authorities remind everyone to be aware of all account activity on their bank and credit card statements. If any transactions seem suspect, one should report this activity immediately to both one's financial institution as well as local authorities. It is important to do this quickly as catching perpetrators of fraud often hinges on a time factor.

Man arrested at alleged drug house could face additional charges

While four people were arrested in relation to drug charges in Lancaster, one of the accused may be in even more trouble after he allegedly identified himself to officers using his brother's name rather than his own. The man could face a charge of providing false information to officers in addition to drug-related charges and theft charges. The 32-year-old man, who was identified by his fingerprints, was arrested along with two other men and one woman when deputies conducted a raid on a house suspected of harboring drug activity. Inside the residence, officers claim to have seized methamphetamine and stolen items including electronics. Authorities also allege that they uncovered evidence of check fraud along with identity theft. All four individuals were booked on charges of fraud, drug crimes and theft.
