On April 3, a video camera allegedly captured a white BMW 328i hitting a bicyclist and then driving away on Wiltshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Following the incident, a spokesperson for the Beverly Hills Police Department released a statement claiming that the driver intentionally drove into the bicycle, pinning the bike and its rider up against a metal garbage bin. After the event, it is believed that the driver turned onto an alley between Almont Drive and Wetherly Drive.
The man on the bicycle reportedly told police that he had an altercation with the driver earlier, during which the cyclist punched the driver in the face. The driver allegedly threatened to kill the other man and followed him into the alley before striking him. Police are attempting to locate and speak with the driver, who could be charged with attempted murder and hit and run following the reported road rage incident.
The driver was described as male in his mid-30s of white or Middle Eastern descent with a thin build and dark hair. The cyclist was not identified. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a nearby hospital.
Being charged with a crime can be confusing and frightening. Having a local attorney who knows the court system and procedures can be invaluable. The attorney may be able to assist by keeping persons accused of crimes informed of what is going on in their cases, negotiating bail amounts and plea bargains, disputing the admissibility of evidence such as eyewitness accounts or arguing the case before a jury at trial.
