Man arrested in connection with large beehive theft

Federal crimes come in all shapes and sizes, as one suspect learned recently after officials arrested him in connection with the theft of some peculiar property. Officials believe the man is responsible for the theft of bees and beehives worth nearly $1 million. According to reports, similar thefts occurred in six separate counties throughout the state, adding up to one of the largest and most geographically diverse bee thefts on record.

The motivation for such theft is fairly straightforward — beekeepers work in tandem with almond growers in California to pollinate their trees. A successful beekeeper can profit nearly $200,000 per year with the right contracts.

While the suspect has been arrested, his charges are still in flux. Initially, he only received charges of suspicion of possessing stolen property. According to police, the sheriff declined to file any additional charges because he suspected that the case would eventually convert from from a state to federal matter because of the magnitude of the property loss.

It is still unknown if the man will face federal charges, but if he eventually does, he will need an excellent defense to ensure that his rights remain secure. Without proper legal counsel, there is no reason to believe that he will receive a fair trial.

Of course, this is true with any federal charge. If you recently received federal charges, then you need to acquire experienced, professional legal counsel as soon as you can. With proper representation by an experienced attorney, you can rest assured that your rights will remain protected and that you will be treated fairly by the court. Otherwise, you may find yourself facing harshly unfair sentencing.
