California doctor, son in custody for selling prescription pills

A Drug Enforcement Administration affidavit alleges that a California doctor and son sold prescription pills and marijuana to drug dealers. The doctor is accused of abusing his medical license to prescribe the drugs, great amounts of which were reportedly discovered in his home, to local and out-of-state patients.

2 taken into custody after alleged drug deal

Law enforcement officials in California took two men into custody on various drug charges after observing at a distance what appeared to them to be a drug deal. Upon further investigation, the Santa Clarita officers discovered that the vehicle one of the men was in had been reported stolen. That man faces multiple charges, including one for drug possession.

Two arrested after bicycle stops

Two California men were arrested on drug charges in separate incidents on Oct. 20 in Sacramento. Both men were stopped by police officers while riding bicycles. The first arrest happened at approximately 11:17 pm near the intersection of Lissetta and 12th Avenues. A 35-year-old man was stopped on his bicycle by police and searched. During the search, police reportedly found meth and rock cocaine. The man was arrested and faces charges for possession of drugs for sale.

California man faces multiple drug and firearms charges

A California man is facing trial after police were called to a residence in Belle Vernon where three dogs were reported to have been left in a car with insufficient ventilation. The man is facing multiple charges, including ones related to both firearms and drug possession. When police arrived at the home, they allegedly discovered what appeared to be marijuana-growing paraphernalia during a routine inventory of the vehicle the dogs were held in.

Rapper arrested for drug possession at California airport

Rapper 2 Chainz was taken into custody at LAX after a search of his checked baggage allegedly revealed marijuana and promethazine. Promethazine is used as the main ingredient in a dangerous drug cocktail called sizzurp that is well known among rappers. Although promethazine is legal when properly dispensed by an authorized medical professional, authorities have not confirmed as to whether 2 Chainz had been prescribed the drug by a doctor.

Man faces drug charges, extradition to California

A South Carolina businessman faces extradition to Butte County, California, on drug charges including cultivation and possession of marijuana and possession of an assault weapon. The suspect was arrested and detained at the Moss Justice Center while he awaited a hearing on extradition. The suspect's attorney declined to waive extradition proceedings and asked that his client be released on bond.Police in Butte County intercepted 92 pounds of marijuana that had been mailed to the suspect's South Carolina address, and further investigation revealed that six prior shipments of the same size had been sent to the address in the past. Upon executing a search warrant for his home, officials found a small quantity of marijuana.

Los Angeles drug sweep results in 12 arrests

Twelve of the 14 people named in a federal indictment for drug charges were arrested in Los Angeles and Orange counties recently as part of a crackdown on alleged "marijuana stores" that may have put as much as 1 ton of marijuana on the streets. The stores are alleged to have produced millions of dollars in income for the individuals named as conspirators in the charges.The man thought to be the mastermind of the operation also faces charges of tax evasion for failure to pay federal taxes and for giving instructions to an employee to destroy records that linked him to the money. The suspect is also facing charges of possession of weapon after being convicted of previous drug charges.
