Two arrested after bicycle stops

Two California men were arrested on drug charges in separate incidents on Oct. 20 in Sacramento. Both men were stopped by police officers while riding bicycles. The first arrest happened at approximately 11:17 pm near the intersection of Lissetta and 12th Avenues. A 35-year-old man was stopped on his bicycle by police and searched. During the search, police reportedly found meth and rock cocaine. The man was arrested and faces charges for possession of drugs for sale.

Man could lose hand after alleged theft

A California man who was supposedly attempting to take wiring from government property on Oct. 19 could lose his hand after he was seriously shocked. Earlier in the week, another person also suffered a bad shock during an alleged theft. The juvenile correction facility where the incident occurred is now closed. The subject, who is in his 50s, should survive but was hospitalized after he burned both hands.

2 men taken into custody hours after release from jail

Two California men who reportedly have extensive records have been accused of teaming up in a series of thefts. After befriending each other in jail, the 35-year-old man and 37-year-old man were both released at the same time Sept. 25. Within hours of their release, authorities say, the men ended up being booked at Orange County Jail for alleged auto theft and attempting to rob a police officer. According to reports, intoxication may have been a factor in the alleged crimes.

Southern California fraud scheme busted

Eight people, seven of whom are Southern California residents, stand accused of being leaders of a fraud scheme and have been indicted by a grand jury on allegations that more than 2,000 identities were stolen for the purpose of filing bogus tax refund claims. Twenty-three more people were also taken into custody in connection with the incident.
