Three arrested for alleged package theft in Irvine

On Behalf of Ron Cordova, Attorney-At-Law | Dec 27, 2015 | Firm News, Theft and Property Crimes |

Receiving a theft charge in California can create all sorts of problems. First, your reputation is placed in jeopardy as having a criminal conviction on your record could limit your future opportunities. Further, thefts may be considered misdemeanors or felonies based on the value of what was allegedly taken. An individual charged with theft may be facing penalties ranging from fines to incarceration.

Recently, two 25-year-old males and one male juvenile were arrested on suspicion of theft. It is believed that the three suspects absconded with a package that had been delivered to a home in Irvine.

According to an Irvine Police spokeswoman, during a traffic stop of the vehicle in which the three suspects were traveling, police discovered multiple stolen packages as well as a credit card. The spokeswoman said that the suspects had been focusing on packages they believed contained debit and credit cards.

Reportedly, a mail carrier had previously reported witnessing a theft that occurred outside a Tropical Isle home. The mail carrier gave authorities a description of the suspects as well as the vehicle they were in. Shortly after the mail carrier’s report, police stopped the vehicle and arrested the suspects.

The charges issued included conspiracy and theft. An investigation is underway to determine if the three suspects were involved in any other similar thefts. As for now, these three individuals appear to be facing an uncertain future. But one thing is certain, they, like anyone else who is charged with theft, have rights.

If you are ever charged with having committed a theft or other property-related crime, having a criminal attorney on your side could be of great benefit. An attorney can advise you of your rights and act to make sure that those rights are protected.
