Drug charges pending for principal of Santa Clara school

On Behalf of Ron Cordova, Attorney-At-Law | Oct 13, 2012 | Drug Charges, Firm News |

The principal of an elementary school in Santa Clara was arraigned recently on six different drug charges. One of those charges being that he offered meth to a narcotics agent who was undercover. He originally connected with the agent through a dating website. The man in question had served as the principal for seven years at Montague Elementary.

He was arrested after a tip to the local drug task force led them in his direction. An undercover agent contacted him through the dating website and that’s when they began texting each other. Throughout the messages, Lewis offered to supply the officer with drugs. It was with that information that they were able to begin searching his apartment. During the search, they uncovered eight ecstasy pills, three vials of GHB and a quarter-ounce of meth.

There were also other drug-related items inside of his apartment, such as a scale and baggies. His home and school computers were confiscated for routine examination. He has been charged with five felony counts and one misdemeanor count of drug paraphernalia. Currently, he is sitting in jail in lieu of his bail. Even though he texted the officer during school hours, evidence does not suggest any deals went down at school. The arrest apparently took the school district by surprise.

Dealing with drug charges can be an overwhelming experience for many individuals. Possession and drug trafficking of marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine and other drug charges are taken very seriously by California authorities, which is why it’s extremely important to understand your rights when facing such charges. Not everyone who is accused of a crime is guilty.
