Being charged with theft can be a serious matter. In California, as is the case throughout the United States, authorities will go to great lengths to track down those responsible for such offenses. However, it is not always easy to find the right person and this can mean that innocent people become implicated along the way.
In Alabama, a 39-year-old man is believed to have been involved in a theft from Montgomery Motor Speedway. According to reports, he is believed to have removed a chain link fence surrounding the race track by pulling it down. This is thought to have happened in August 2013, sometime between the 11th and 18th.
After allegedly entering the property, the suspect is reported to have removed a number of aluminum bleachers along with a quantity of copper thought to have been worth between $500 and $2,500. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and is facing charges relating to the alleged incident.
This may have happened in another state, but it could just as easily have happened in California. The uncertainty about the date of the crime demonstrates how a case can be brought even if the evidence is not necessarily concrete. The important thing to do in this situation is to act quickly to protect your reputation. These investigations can take considerable time, so deciding promptly how to respond to the allegations against you can be helpful.
A good defense may be key to preserving your good name and avoiding conviction. This is where an attorney may prove useful. He or she can provide the advice and guidance to help you ensure that your side of the story is heard as you work toward a just and favorable outcome.
